New letting at KEC Marktredwitz – VÖLKEL wins Woolworth for the revitalized basement

Construction work on the space formerly leased to Kaufland is progressing steadily. As part of a comprehensive project development, the space was redistributed, provided with a shopping street identical to the floors above and connected to the first floor by a new escalator.

Woolworth is the first anchor tenant for the new basement. VÖLKEL Real Estate and Berlinovo Immobilien Gesellschaft mbH welcome the new tenant to around 900 m² in the KEC.

Once the extensive construction work has been completed, Woolworth’s will offer items from the household, decoration, clothing and gift sectors and complement the strong product mix in the KEC.

The KEC is one of the best-known and most popular shopping centers in the region. Berlinovo and VÖLKEL are implementing a comprehensive package of measures to ensure the center’s long-term attractiveness.

Extensive construction and expansion work will be carried out over the next few months. “The rented space is already clearly visible due to the already erected perimeter, but it will still take some time until the opening,” explains Christopher Kreuzer, Center Manager at VÖLKEL. The opening of the new basement is planned for spring/summer 2025.

The new layout opens up new opportunities for the location to optimize the branch mix. “Woolworth is known for its wide range of products and attractive price-performance ratio,” says Ute Hofmann, Expansion Manager at Woolworth. “We are delighted about the successful conclusion of the lease agreement and look forward to being able to present our wide range of products in Marktredwitz in the near future.”
