Kauf Park Göttingen – MediaMarkt strengthens the location from summer 2024

As part of the long-term development of the Kauf Park in Göttingen, VÖLKEL Real Estate and Deka Immobilien were able to conclude a rental agreement with MediaMarkt.

The center now boasts three market leaders as large-scale anchor tenants: Kaufland, Obi and MediaMarkt.

MediaMarkt will further strengthen the supply function for the region, supported by tenants such as Aldi, Deichmann, Intersport, tegut, Rossmann, Christ, Thalia, Depot, Camp David and numerous other strong chain stores as well as regionally successful retailers, restaurateurs and service providers.

The extensive conversion of the rental space will begin on February 1, 2024, with the opening scheduled for late summer.

MediaMarkt will move into the Kauf Park with its standard store format, the core format, and offer the full product range.

Rüdiger Hampe, Managing Director of Völkel Real Estate GmbH, is pleased with the new tenant: “The letting to the market leader MediaMarkt is a great success for Kauf Park and, following the letting to Kaufland in 2022, represents a further step in the site-specific development of the former real rental space.”

Lower Saxony’s largest retail park

The Kauf Park in Göttingen was built in 1998 and, with a sales area of approx. 45,000 sqm and over 10,000 visitors a day, it is the largest retail park in southern Lower Saxony. The center is easily accessible for customers via the A7, A44 and A38 as well as via the B3 from Göttingen. The space is leased on a long-term basis and the focus is on covering daily needs with groceries and drugstore items, but also includes a DIY store, a garden center and restaurants. Tenants include Kaufland, Obi, Aldi and Tegut.

Kauf Park Göttingen has been managed by VÖLKEL Real Estate as a full service since 2019. The VÖLKEL Group was founded in Hamburg in 2004 and, in addition to operational property management, offers a wide range of other services relating to the life cycle of a property. She has been working for Deka Immobilien for many years and now manages various shopping centers and retail parks for the investor.

Deka Immobilien acquired the property in 2019 as an internal joint venture between the special funds WestInvest TargetSelect Shopping, Domus-Deutschland-Fonds Nr. 2 and Domus-Einzelhandel-Deutschland.
