“Don’t shake me” is a joint project of the Department of Obstetrics at Charité, Universitätsmedizin Berlin and the German Council of Shopping Places. The aim is to contribute to the prevention of shaking trauma in newborns and young infants through education.
Shaking dolls are simulation dolls that impressively visualize how even brief, violent shaking affects the brain of a newborn or young infant. Surveys show that around two thirds of the German population are unaware that even brief, violent shaking can have fatal consequences for babies. It is therefore important to raise awareness and educate pregnant women and parents. The initiative is supported by well-known players. Patrons are Julia Harting (discus thrower) and Robert Harting (world champion, Olympic champion & multiple German champion in discus throwing) as well as actor Jan Josef Liefers.
In the Göttinger Kauf Park managed by us, three “Schüttelpuppen” sponsorships were taken over and thus the expensive dolls were also financed. Three institutions in the region were selected to receive a “Schüttelpuppe”. The official handover took place on 14.10.2023 in the centre.
